Top 10 Time-Proven Tips to Secure Local Cleaning Job

    JustinBy JustinJuly 25, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

Cleaning jobs in the US are extremely important and always relevant. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2.3 million janitors and cleaners were hired in 2022. These specialists play a key role in ensuring tidiness and hygiene in public and private spaces, which was particularly important in the context of the global pandemic.

Clean workplaces and public spaces help reduce the risk of infection and improve the population’s general health. Cleaners also contribute significantly to the aesthetics of commercial facilities, which have a positive impact on the country’s business and economy.

10 expert tips to land a cleaning job

Surprisingly, securing a cleaning job near you could be a very competitive endeavor.  But with the right approach and attitude, you can easily land this demanded and important job:

    1. Do a thorough market research. Explore all the open vacancies in your area. You can take advantage of websites like SimplyHired, Indeed, Jooble, and Glassdoor. Find out what companies are hiring cleaners and what requirements they have.

    2. Visit local job fairs. This is a great opportunity to meet potential employers face-to-face. Take a few copies of your resume, and don’t forget to smile – this is your most powerful weapon!

    3. Prepare a CV. Even for a cleaner’s job, it is important to have a professional resume. Include all your previous experience, especially those where you have performed similar tasks. Don’t forget to mention skills like attention to detail and teamwork. Add a little humor by pointing out that you are a master vacuum cleaner and know the secrets of dust control.

    4. Take the training. Many companies offer cleaning courses that can be taken online or offline. The certificate of completion can be a great advantage in employment and help you land a cleaning job near you.

    5. Get recommendation letters. If you have previous experience working in the field, ask your past employers to write recommendation letters. It will give you extra points for being hired.

    6. Get ready for the interview. Ask your family and friends to help you out with typical job interview questions. Rehearse your answers in advance. You need to sound confident and competent at the interview.

    7. Show your flexibility. Cleaners often work night shifts or weekends. Indicate in your resume and mention at the interview that you are ready to work at any time when it is necessary.

    8. Be prepared for physical activity. Cleaning often involves lifting loads, long-standing hours, and other physically demanding tasks. By showing that you are ready for this, you will increase your chances of success in landing a job.

    9. Dress appropriately. People often judge a book by its cover. To make a favorable first impression, wear clean and tidy clothes. Your appearance should speak of your professionalism.

    10. Stay persistent. Don’t give up when you don’t get a call back from the interview. Cleaning is a necessary and respected profession, and your efforts will definitely pay off. Keep sending your resume, improve your skills, and in time, you will definitely land a great cleaning job near you!

    To summarize

Getting a cleaner job can be a challenge, but with the right approach and perseverance, you will definitely achieve your goal. Your role in maintaining the cleanliness and health of public and private spaces is very valuable, and your efforts will greatly benefit society.
