Becoming a Successful Entrepreneur is Challenging, Yet Here are 5 Key Factors to Consider

    JustinBy JustinNovember 28, 2023Updated:December 1, 2023No Comments5 Mins Read

Welcome to the 21st century, where your daily 9 – 5 can no longer pay your bills! Gone are the days when it was just enough to have a job. These days, you need more. The prices of things keep going up, and your salary isn’t necessarily increasing to match. That’s why, in 2022, the US poverty rate saw an increase of a whopping 5%!

To balance things out, a lot of people turn to entrepreneurship. However, most people are scared to start as entrepreneurs, and we get why. One need only look at the tons of failed businesses out there! Entrepreneurship is not for the faint-hearted: there’s so much you need to consider, like how to go about production, get customers, manage risks, etc.

But if you’re reading this article, then you can cut down the worry; we got you! It’s not impossible to be an entrepreneur. You only need a unique vision, a strategic plan, and resilience. There’s no need to panic. Take a deep breath and consider these five key factors contributing to entrepreneurship success.

    They are Strong Players

It’s not in your best interest to go in blind when starting as an entrepreneur. You want to take a moment to consider important things like what essential qualities make successful entrepreneurs what they are today. And if you consider this, you will realize that many successful entrepreneurs worldwide are strong players, but let’s explain this in poker terms.

Poker is similar to entrepreneurship in quite a number of ways. In poker, as in entrepreneurship, there’s money at stake. You go in with capital (your betting money) and do all you can in the course of the game, not only not to lose your capital, but also to double or even triple it. In both instances, there’s a lot of uncertainty to deal with, regardless of which you still have to succeed.

So, successful entrepreneurs are like strong poker players in many ways. By this, we don’t mean that they are necessarily good poker players. No, no. What we mean is some essential skills learned from poker can help make you a successful entrepreneur who doesn’t make the most common business mistakes as a good gamer would not allow the poker mistakes weaker players usually make.  For example, strong poker players are experts in taking calculated risks. No one knows how to read the room better than them.

They consider everything: their hand, the game, their opponents, etc. In the same way, an entrepreneur must have a panoramic view of the business, weighing the odds of success or failure from the limited information available.

Also, like first-rate poker players, successful entrepreneurs always approach their business with an analytical and strategic mindset. That’s how they are able to gather information, recognize patterns, and reach a deep understanding of the market before making any significant decisions.

    They are Passionate

Know this now: you must be passionate about your business if you hope to succeed. If you don’t have passion for it, it’s best to find the passion now! As they say, entrepreneurship is not simply a job or a career—it’s a whole lifestyle!

You need to keep this in mind because you’ll meet many hurdles in your journey. Expecting a smooth ride is a mark of naivety. Hard times are part of the bargain—and when the going gets tough, your passion will save the day and ensure you don’t give up.

    They are Creative

This can’t be overstressed: creativity sets you apart from other entrepreneurs in your field. It is such an essential quality that you might, in fact, not be able to start on your journey to becoming an entrepreneur without creativity. That’s because entrepreneurship is essentially a problem-solving endeavor, and you need creativity to be able to conceive of a problem to solve in the first place.

Creativity, for example, motivated the businesswoman Sara Blakely to come up with Spanx. After recognizing that it was uncomfortable to have your panty line showing through your slacks, she simply cut the feet off a pair of pantyhose and—voila! Spanx was born!

    They are Disciplined

Remember all of your grandpa’s lessons on discipline? They will come in handy now that you’re trying to be an entrepreneur. In entrepreneurship, unlike in a typical 9 – 5, you don’t have a boss breathing down your back, expecting results, so you can do as you like, right? Wrong!

Entrepreneurship requires even more discipline, lest you risk a total collapse. You are your own boss, so you must set your goals using OKR Software and ensure you achieve them if you don’t want to incur terrible losses. In the meantime, continuous learning through professional events and seminars is key, and it helps to keep yourself in good shape.

    They are Resilient

Finally, a successful entrepreneur is nothing if not resilient. As we’ve said above, this journey is bound to be full of ups and downs. You might suffer so many setbacks that it might be tempting to give up. Don’t. If you persevere, you’ll surely have something to show for it. We wish you good luck!
