Here’s Why So Many Companies Trust Proximity Cards for Their Security

    JustinBy JustinJuly 3, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

Companies have a lot riding on security. Employees need to be and feel safe, and sensitive proprietary information must be secure. If a business fails to stay on guard, it could be vulnerable to dangerous people and corporate espionage.

Thankfully, technology like proximity cards provides a comprehensive and sleek solution. Let’s check out why so many companies embrace proximity cards.

    Airtight Security

Proximity cards by industry experts like Avon Security Products offer airtight security, much better than you’d get from a traditional lock and key. The proximity card works by accessing a low frequency of 125 kHz to transmit cardholder data to an access door reader. An embedded metallic antenna coil stores the prox card data, unlocking any door if the reader’s and the card’s numbers match.

It’s possible to pick a physical lock and key, but that’s impossible to hack when security is based on frequencies rather than something tangible. Companies need to keep strangers off the premises to ensure their employees and sensitive data are safe, and proximity cards offer an ultra-high level of security.

    Streamlined and Smooth

HR departments have much to do, and asking them to make separate keys for every door an employee can access is a large task. It’s also annoying for employees to carry a ring of keys and spend time wondering which key opens which lock any time they enter a room.

Proximity cards let them open every door they’re authorized to access with a single card, both inside a workplace and the front door. One tap and they’re in. If they get a promotion or need access to new spaces, it’s easy for the company to just update the proximity card.

There’s less fuss. Proximity cards make it easy for HR to onboard new hires and save employees time and frustration.

    Compatibility

For your proximity card to work properly, it’s crucial that the data on the card and the card reader are compatible. Leaders work closely with clients to ensure their cards work with any standard or HID proximity card reader.

They can also customize the card to reflect your facility’s unique code and required format, whether 26-bit or 172-bit. Basically, the industry experts handle all the complicated back-end stuff, so your employees and other personnel can securely enter controlled areas without giving it a second thought.

You’ll enjoy total peace of mind without wondering if your system is working properly. It’s a good idea to keep your proximity card in a case or in your wallet, or it could get demagnetized and stop working properly. But so long as it’s functioning properly, it will work with a wide variety of card readers.

Security needs to be tight but simple, reliable but quick. Proximity cards protect businesses in ways that are natural and simple for people and companies alike. For a sleek, slick security solution for companies and institutions across many sectors, consider getting a proximity card today.
