Best Practices for Designing and Printing Food Packaging Labels

    JustinBy JustinFebruary 15, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

The point is you need to be extra diligent when it comes to making your product labels, including food packaging labels. If you don’t know where to start, then read on for the best tips and practices to set your labelling apart.

    1. Start with Choosing the Right Size of Labels

Your food packaging labels shouldn’t cover the entirety of the product. At the same time, the label shouldn’t be so small that it looks like some random sticker. To avoid this dilemma, you should first check the size of the food packaging and use that to determine how big or small your labels will be. Determining label size will give you a blueprint for working on other details. Reputable brands like CDM labels can help you get your label specifications right.

    2. Pick A Suitable Design

Once the size has been sorted, you should move on to brainstorming the design to go with it. In this scenario, you should first think of the story you want to tell your consumers. At the same time, you should decide on what emotions you want to evoke in your customers. Placing your customers at the centre of your design ideas will yield better results.

    3. Ensure Your Packaging Label Design Is Extensible

What it means is that you should look beyond the present when conveying your brand’s image with labels. Instead of sending a message of why your brand is what it is, you should also include an idea of what your brand strives to become. That way, you and your customers can look to the future together and jump in for the ride ahead.

    4. Leave Bleed Areas on Your Label

Bleed areas are small spaces on the labels, void of any design or inscription. Bleed areas also allow for variations in the cutting process. That way, you don’t have to worry about part of your design getting snipped off during the cutting process.

    5. Ensure Simplicity in Your Design

While your labels need to stand out from the rest, remember to keep it simple with the design. Adding too many variations will leave your labels looking muddled and shouty. It will also take away the purpose of food packaging labels and, instead, leave a disoriented impression on product consumers.

    6. Labels Should Embody Your Brand Personality

Whatever design you eventually go for should embody your brand to the core. Your goals, mission, and vision should be easily understood just by looking at the details of your labels. It will help send the right message to the product consumers and draw them closer to your brand.

    7. Ensure High-quality Images

In all you do, be sure to cross check the quality of the labels before sending them out. Proper quality control is necessary to prevent labels with poor image resolution from leaving the workplace.

    Wrapping Up

Product packaging is essential for the proper delivery and marketing of products. Part of what makes any packaging stand out is the use of high-quality labels. With the guide above, it should be clear now what your labels need for better recognition and consumer effect.
