Do You Deserve Compensation for Internal Bleeding Due to a Catastrophic Injury in Wisconsin?

    JustinBy JustinMay 3, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

Serious injuries can lead to internal bleeding and trauma. Usually, internal bleeding happens following a catastrophic injury.  This medical emergency can take place in any body part. An injury to the artery or vein can cause the blood to pool in the body, impacting the circulatory system. Internal bleeding can be hard to diagnose and can get worse over time. When doctors identify the internal bleeding site, they may try to repair it. But seeing internal bleeding due to trauma can be hard. This can be life-threatening. If you have sustained a catastrophic injury that resulted in internal bleeding, you may deal with hefty medical bills while you cannot go to work. Thankfully, a wisconsin catastrophic injury lawyer can help you seek compensation for your injury and resulting losses.

    Internal Bleeding Causes

Internal bleeding can occur due to force or trauma and blood vessel damage. It can happen without the appearance of cuts or bruises on your skin. It can result from broken bones, particularly if you break a femur or rib. Typically, your body tries to stop the loss of blood by making clots. But if you have bleeding disorders, this natural process can be interfered with, causing you to bleed freely.

Following a traumatic injury, your doctor may have to perform surgery. But they should make sure the internal bleeding is resolved. Otherwise, the bleeding can progress after surgery. No matter the cause of your internal bleeding, you need urgent medical attention.

    Understanding Catastrophic Injuries

An injury is considered catastrophic if it causes serious damage and requires a long time to heal. Broken bones, organ damage, traumatic brain injury, and internal bleeding can develop due to catastrophic injuries. A head injury may lead to bruising or bleeding inside your skull, causing issues with your memory, emotions, and sleep.

Broken bones like a broken femur or fractured ribs can happen following a truck or car accident. They lead to limited mobility and can result in serious pain. Often, treatment includes rest, medication, and physical therapy. If the fractured bones lead to additional internal damage, surgery may be necessary.

A punctured lung can develop in a motor vehicle accident, slip and fall accident, medical malpractice, or blunt trauma. This results in the leaking of air into the space around the lung inside the chest, leading to pressure that can make the lung collapse. Breathing difficulties, fatigue, chest tightness, and chest pain are signs of lung collapse.
