Working closely with attorneys gave Jaden Kohan a firsthand look at a persistent challenge in the legal industry: many lawyers provide valuable services but struggle to consistently connect with people who need them.
Kohan noticed that the problem was not necessarily a lack of legal demand. Instead, there was often a gap between consumers searching for legal help and attorneys trying to generate qualified leads and new cases. Limited promotion and difficulty reaching the right audience can make that connection harder for both sides.
Turning an Industry Problem Into an Opportunity
After seeing these challenges through his work with attorneys, Kohan decided to approach the problem from a different angle. His idea is to make legal discovery simpler for consumers while creating more opportunities for attorneys to connect with potential clients.
That idea led to Jaden Kohan’s legal discovery platform, YelpLawyer, a platform currently being developed with an expected launch in the coming months.
YelpLawyer is intended to help consumers navigate the process of finding legal assistance more easily. At the same time, it aims to give attorneys another way to increase their visibility, attract relevant leads, and potentially grow their caseloads.
Building Around Real Legal Industry Needs
What makes the concept notable is that it grew from Kohan’s direct experience working around attorneys and observing their business challenges. Rather than viewing legal services only from the lawyer’s perspective, YelpLawyer is being designed around the connection between attorneys and the consumers searching for them.
As YelpLawyer moves toward launch, its mission remains straightforward: reduce the difficulty consumers face when searching for legal help while helping attorneys create more opportunities to connect with potential clients.
