    1. SAVE RESOURCES

Most of us don’t notice how many resources are wasted every day. But saving electricity and water is as simple and fast as hitting the jackpot at an online casino! Turn off the lights and unplug electrical appliances – even an unattended smartphone charger quietly consumes electricity. When buying household appliances, choose energy-saving models – they are labeled A, A+, A++.

Installing a water meter in your apartment will help you save on utilities and help nature at the same time. Additionally, install energy-efficient shower heads with a flow rate of less than 10 liters per minute. Load the washing machine completely and set a low washing temperature – this will help reduce electricity consumption by 80%.

    2. SEPARATE GARBAGE

People have learned to deal with garbage in three ways: they leave it in landfills, burn it, or recycle it. Unfortunately, in addition to recycling, such methods destroy the environment and are dangerous to health.

Separate waste collection helps to recycle what is no longer needed into new things and useful materials. For example, new notebooks and office paper are made from unnecessary waste paper, and old plastic bottles can be turned into colorful children’s slides.

    3. RECYCLE RAW MATERIALS

Separate waste collection leads to the next point in the plan to save the environment: recycling. Every year, 70 million tons of household waste are thrown out in Russia; however, according to Greenpeace, only 3-5% of solid municipal waste is recycled. Environmentalists are sounding the alarm: if recycling is not implemented, then in 10 years the area of landfills in Russia will be equal to two areas of the Azov Sea!

Identify “useful” waste and where it is accepted. Find out where the nearest recycling points are (for example, using the interactive Greenpeace map) and set aside a separate container in your home to avoid confusion.

By the way, you can recycle your old thermos – and we will give you a discount!

    4. CHOOSE ECO-FRIENDLY TRANSPORT

The most beneficial modes of transportation for people and nature are walking and cycling. There will also be less harm to the environment if you choose public transport instead of a car.

But if you still cannot do without a car, use the advice of environmentalists, which will help reduce fuel consumption and reduce the impact on the environment.

First, take care of your car not only when something is wrong: get it inspected on time, change air filters, engine oil, and spark plugs. Secondly, try to maintain a constant speed and not exceed the permissible limit – driving at 100 km/h instead of 120 km/h will save 20% of fuel. If you stop for more than a minute, turn off the engine. And maintain the required pressure in the tires: under-inflated tires produce more resistance and, as a result, increase fuel consumption.

    5. REUSE AND DON’T TAKE TOO MUCH

Reducing waste is no less important than recycling it correctly. Today, almost everything disposable has a reusable alternative. Buy less of what will almost immediately go into the trash: replace disposable cups with a thermos or a thermos mug, products in additional packaging – those sold by weight (use string bags, your containers, fabric bags). Try not to throw away high-quality packaging and find a new use for it – this will help get rid of the need to buy something and throw something away.

    6. INTRODUCE ECO-HABITS AT WORK

Become a guide to the world of eco-life for your colleagues! Give up the elevator in favor of the stairs. Do not forget to turn off the computer at the end of the working day. Also, take reusable lunch boxes and thermos mugs with you.

Everyone will be surprised at how the office will be transformed if you suggest implementing some landscaping, collectively separating garbage into paper, plastic, and glass, and holding meetings in a nearby park on good weather days. A change of work environment will not only improve well-being but also increase productivity.

    7. PAY ATTENTION TO NUTRITION

The right choice of products will also help reduce your ecological footprint. Buy seasonal products and locally produced goods. Their delivery requires less fuel and produces fewer harmful emissions. In addition, the more a product has been processed, the heavier its ecological footprint. Semi-finished products and canned goods are considered the “heaviest.” Head to the nearest market and, to keep your food fresh even in the heat, take a practical thermal bag with you.
