Thaely’s sneakers have proven to be extremely popular, with the company selling 1,500 pairs in just 3-4 months, far exceeding its initial target of selling the same number within a year. The shoes are priced at Rs.7000 and the founder hopes to sell 25,000 pairs this year.

Akshay Bhave is the founder of Thaely, a vegan sneaker brand that repurposes waste plastic bags into sneakers. He is a social entrepreneur and designer from the United Arab Emirates, and is only 23 years old.
Akshay received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management with a focus on entrepreneurship from Amity University Dubai, and also studied accessory design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Prior to starting Thaely, Akshay gained experience in the industry through internships at Creative ALÓ Media LLC, The AJALA Project, and ITP Media Group.
In 2019, he won the Eureka startup competition at Amity University, and has exhibited his work at the Dubai Design District, Al Serkal Avenue, and Tashkeel Design Studio.
